Lives of Excellence
Lives of Excellence. A simple sentence that forever impacts a Delt no matter where their path leads to on the journey of life. As our motto, we pursuit this adage in all aspects of our lives from academics to athletics, from community service to social activities, from individual development to group progression. As Delts we are involved on campus, around the University, and off campus to better our educational institution for our fellow students along with ourselves. Not only do we help others but we help ourselves through continuously improving our shelter to allow for better internet and networking, redesigning and replacing items that are around the house and need attention, and keeping up our relations with our house mother and cook, Deana McMullen. Our campus involvement has grown to the far stretches of the Kettering Community. We have seen a large showing at IFC meetings with hopes to do well in the upcoming election. On IFC we have seen Jeremy Baker hand off the presidency, and Greg Semrau turn over the Social Chair position to Brian Benoy. Tim Eden is the current Secretary and Luke Martin has stepped up to the Risk Chair position. We have become active in Honor Society leadership. Jeremy Baker is the President of Order of Omega and Nate Yensho is the President of Tau Beta Pi. We also hold the President position on a magnitude of Clubs around campus. Xiaowei Ng is in charge of Soccer Club, Greg Semrau is in charge of Frisbee Club, Aaron Laprade is in charge of Engineer's Without Boarders, Tim Moyer has handed of presidential duties to Chris Roberts for Firebirds Club, Nick Ward is in charge of the Mini Baja Team and Tony McKahan is in charge of the Robotics Team. We also have a reach into the Society of Hispanic Engineers, Asian American Association and many committees sponsored by Kettering Student Government. Our Community involvement has seen a blossom in the past few terms. We always strictly adhere to the need of local young students in the area with Adopt-A-School. We have also expanded to another tutoring program known as Motherly Intersession. We have seen the fall of Paint-A-House but in its wake we have been active in most IFC Philanthropy events most notably Relay for Life, in which we helped the school raise close to $25,000 by making the largest team contribution of over $2500. The Brothers have been very active within our shelter as well; we have made several renovations to our house over the past year. Recently an Alumni Gift/Project was undertaken. Neil Bockrath, Cliff Seipke and newly elected GMT President Alex Jones championed the project set on renovating the volleyball court. The remainder of the roof was re-shingled and all of the bathrooms now have counters and new sinks thanks largely in part to the newly elected GMT Vice-President Andrew Westrick. Recent pledge projects have been to re-paint the exterior of the shelter and re-tile the floor from the kitchen to the Computer Room. With the presence of our house mom, we get two hot meals Monday thru Friday that are fully prepared by her. She also orders all of our food and cleaning supplies to ease our lives. Through her efforts, she allows more time to focus on our individual studies and school activities. It is a great time to be a Delt at Kettering in the concrete paradise of Flint. We have seen many accomplishments and hope for a multitude of more in the future. We urge all of you to come to our events, stop a member around campus, stop by the house, and visit with some of our diverse members and consider joining and expanding our enriched house.
