“Letters of Distinction. Lives of Excellence.” The foundation statement of our fraternity. To the brothers of Epsilon Iota-B these words shape our everyday actions both on and off of campus.
The past 2008-2009 academic year has been one that Epsilon Iota-B can be proud of. The house has excelled academically, philanthropically, athletically and the extent of our reach can be found in every corner of the school. We currently hold five positions in the Inter-Fraternity Council. Scott Snyder is our Judicial Chair, James Slemons holds Social Chair, Grant Scott III is the Athletics Chair, Joe Benyi holds the Orientation Chair and Public Relations Chair is Jeffrey Brosnan. Additionally, five of our members are presidents of clubs on campus. Adam Koehler runs the Ultimate Frisbee Club, Adam King heads the Lacrosse Club, Andrew Eggebroten is in charge of the Soccer Club, Society of Hispanic Engineers is headed by Andrew Wayward and Nathan Ply is the founder and president of the Softball club. Delta Tau Delta is the most diversified fraternity on campus as we also achieved 2nd highest grades on campus for Spring 2008 with an overall WAG of 88.9. In the Fall of 2008 we hit an overall WAG of 88.2. Both times we were the largest house on campus with an average 10 more members than the next largest house. This is truly something to be proud of.
We didn’t disappoint in athletics either. We came a close 2nd to Pi Kappa Alpha in the Greek Cup with final scores of 90 to 98. The entire house is on board for a Greek Cup victory in the 2009-2010 academic year. Perhaps the greatest award Delta Tau Delta won during the past academic year was “Chapter of the Year” presented by the Inter-Fraternal Council to the house who displays excellence in scholarship, campus leadership, community service, chapter finances, athletic performance and chapter maintenance.
On a note closer to home, we had an average dollar raised per man figure of $86.88 for all the philanthropy performed within the year. This means a total of just over $4,500 raised as a house and donated to various charities and organizations. Additionally each man performed an average 21 hours of community service within the year. Epsilon Iota-B is also very involved with the Adopt-A-School program that takes place at the Durant Tuuri Mott School. Every year our members dedicate at least 2 hours to work with the children tutoring them, with many of us going beyond what is required.
At the annual Northern Division Conference Epsilon Iota-B took away 8 awards including Court of Honor, awarded to one of the top 20 chapters in the division, top GPA in our division and special Adopt-A-School recognition to mention a few.
As a chapter we are very proud of what we have achieved. We continually strive to live lives of excellence. Our doors are always open to alumni. I also encourage freshmen to stop by the house, and visit with some of our diverse members and consider joining and expanding our enriched house. I wish you the best of luck in your Kettering career.
